Less is More - Color Wheel

It's been quite a bit of rain to end the week.  But am hoping to get on the courts today for some tennis!

Today we have a new challenge over at Less is More!

Not only do we have a new challenge, but a birthday celebration and our blog has a new look!

We are celebrating our 6th birthday, and there are lots of great prizes from some wonderful stamp companies! I hope you have time to join us for this fun filled week!

This week our theme is the color wheel.  All you need to do is pick three adjacent colors on the color wheel and go from there!

For my card, I focused on green, yellow and orange. Here's my take on the challenge...
I pulled out this super old stamp set from Recollections...the quality of the stamp is not very good, but it did the trick for this simple card.

I used my misti tool to stamp the candles in a row. Then it was just some simple copic coloring, stampe the sentiment and a bit of wink of stella on the flames as a finishing touch.

Here's a close up of my card.  You can't really see the wink of stella on the flames, but it is there!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Addicted to CAS - Pets

It's been a wet few weeks, but I have been able to get out a few times to the court and of course, to the gym.

We have another challenge starting over at Addicted to CAS.  Our theme for this challenge is Pets! There is no challenge more fun than this one for me.  I love my little cute puppy stamps.

One of the things I would like to do in the new year is to continue to work on my coloring skills.  I'm using both my copics (favorite medium) and my colored pencils to practice my shading.  With that in mind, I created this card...

I started by stamping this cute little pup from Paper Smooches.  I then masked him and stamped the cat in the background.

Because I'm a bit lazy, I don't fussy cut them, but use the die cuts.  It works so much better for me.  I then colored the images with Copics.  It looks a bit empty so I added the sentiment at the top and bottom of the card.

Here's a close up of the card.  Super fun to color this cuties!

Less is More - Balloons

Another soggy week here...so little outdoor activities gives me more time in the studio.

We have another fun challenge starting over at Less is More.  Our theme for this challenge is Balloons!  I was going to go a whole different direction on this one, but I've been on a bit of a ink sponging kick.

Here's my card for this week, looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I started my cutting out each balloon when inking them up with distress inks.  I played around with the placement for a while, then decided I wanted an inlaid die look to make it easy to mail.

I then cut the sentiment and added it to the top.  I glued down the "birthday" part of the sentiment inside the card.

Tag You're It Challenge #64

It has been a nice few days, so I've been able to play a bit of tennis...finally!  I was a bit rusty yesterday, so am hoping that I will be a bit better in my match today!

We have another challenge starting over at Tag You're It.  Hope you plan on joining us!  We have a wonderful guest designer, Lyn Put!  This is her challenge tag!  I love these colors, which I used as my main inspiration.

Here is my take on the challenge...

I focused on the die cut elements and the color of the tag...nothing better than brown, red and white.

I simple die cut the tag and the various elements.  I colored the mug with copics and adhered all the elements together.  I then stamped the sentiment at the bottom. It is a bit too small, but was in a bit of a hurry to get this done that I didn't search for anything larger!

CAS on Sunday - Hearts

I'm trying to get over a bit of a head cold.  I'm feeling okay, just a little congested...which is just annoying.  Anywho...we have a new challenge starting today over at CAS on Sunday!  This is a fun theme....Hearts!

Come on over and join in.  We would love to see what you come up with!  Here's my take on the theme...

I've been on a bit of a rainbow, ombre kick lately and here is another attempt at it.  I also tried out a new size card.  This one is 6.75 x 3.5.  Perfect size to highlight this fun die cut.

After ink sponging paper and die cutting this image, I used the inlaid die technique to make this a one layer card.  I then popped the entire panel on foam tape for dimension.  This makes for some easy mailing.

Addicted to CAS - Wish

It has been a wet few weeks which is good for our draught, and good for my card making...but bad for my tennis.  I'm a bit sick of the gym....but we do need the rain!

We have a new challenge starting over at Addicted to CAS.  Here is our theme for this week...a pretty good one as I need to get my collection of birthday cards going and that is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the code word.

Here is my take on the sketch...come on over to see what the other teammates have come up with and you also have a chance to win a nice treat if you play along!

This card was super fun to color. Working on improving my skills and I'm super happy with this one!

I simply stamped the image and used my copics to color it.  I then added the sentiment.  I thought it need just a little bit of sparkle and I'm into small stars at the moment, I have been liking this look more than sequins.

I added a bit of wink of stella to the crown and done!

Here's a close up of the card.  You can see the stars a bit better.

Super fun to make this one!

Come on over and join us, you have the opportunity to win a gift certificate from Create a Smile stamps!
