Addicted to CAS - Wood

We are hoping for a few days of dry weather before another few small storms come in.  Not enough to rain all day, but enough so the courts remain wet!  Hopefully, I'll fit in another competitive match before the next rain!

We have another challenge starting over at Addicted to CAS.  This one is super clever...the theme is wood.  Hmmmm...interesting.  At first I was a bit nervous, but then remembers a few stamps and dies I could use.  I then settled on this inlaid die card...

I started by using watercolor paper because I didn't want to bright white card, and my watercolor paper is a bit softer in color.

I started by die cutting the tree in dark brown paper.  I then sponged some distress ink on some paper and cut out the leaves.  I wanted the ombre look from green, to yellow, to red.  Then simply stamped my sentiment.  I'm really liking the inlaid die technique...it gives the card a professional look and feel.

Here's a close up of the card.  You can see that I used the inlaid die technique.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Less is More - Alphabet

Had a great tennis match earlier in the week and now we are just trying to dry out for a few days. I'm hoping for a clear day tomorrow for another match.  It is fun to get some competitive matches on the calendar!

We have another challenge over at Less is More!  This week our theme is alphabet.  I was going a few different directions with this one...then looked up and realized it nearly Valentine's Day and had to make a card for the husband....so I combined forces and here is the result.

This was a pretty quick card.  I simply stamped my background sentiment several times with different ink.  This was easy to because I used the Misti Stamping Tool.  I then inked up some paper with an Ombre effect and die cut my image.  I popped up on the main sentiment with foam and done!

Here's a close up of the card, so you can see the dimension created by the foam backing.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Less is More - Opposites

Another soggy week...but all of my tennis was cancelled, so I had to head for the gym!  Hoping to get a few games in the next few days...the weather is supposed to be a bit more tennis friendly!

We have another challenge starting today over at Less is More! Today's theme is Opposites!  I like this idea and wanted to do something a bit different...so here is my take on the challenge!

I had an idea to do something a bit different...thought a balloon might be opposite of a cactus.

I don't have a cactus stamp so I drew this cactus and stamped the balloon. I used my copic markers to color both images.

I then stamped my sentiments using this fun alphabet!

Here is a bit of a close up of my card. Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

CAS on Sunday - Color Challenge

Well another rainy day here...hoping for a little more dry weather!  I'm been trying to play some tennis in between the rain, but it doesn't really work out so well so I have to take some time in the gym!

We have another challenge starting over at CAS on Sunday!  This week is a color challenge (see the colors below).  I love these challenges as it gives me a new combination of colors to play with.  You don't have to use the exact colors identified here, just use something close.

It has been a bit of a busy week, so I opted for something very quick and easy.  Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Here's my take on the challenge...

This is a super quick card.  I simply stamped my images and added a sentiment.

This one of my favorite floral images and love this card as I can make it quickly for any occasion!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Less is More - Color Wheel

It's been quite a bit of rain to end the week.  But am hoping to get on the courts today for some tennis!

Today we have a new challenge over at Less is More!

Not only do we have a new challenge, but a birthday celebration and our blog has a new look!

We are celebrating our 6th birthday, and there are lots of great prizes from some wonderful stamp companies! I hope you have time to join us for this fun filled week!

This week our theme is the color wheel.  All you need to do is pick three adjacent colors on the color wheel and go from there!

For my card, I focused on green, yellow and orange. Here's my take on the challenge...
I pulled out this super old stamp set from Recollections...the quality of the stamp is not very good, but it did the trick for this simple card.

I used my misti tool to stamp the candles in a row. Then it was just some simple copic coloring, stampe the sentiment and a bit of wink of stella on the flames as a finishing touch.

Here's a close up of my card.  You can't really see the wink of stella on the flames, but it is there!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
