Lots of Fishes

Since it is so hot outside, lots of indoor activities on the schedule today!  As you know, I'm mostly an outdoor person, but being in the studio is making me happy today.  Allowing me my second post for the day---this is a first!

I was inspired by two challenges:  CASology #159 and CAS(E) this Sketch #136.  This is my second post for CAS(E) since I really like this sketch---so many possibilities.

Here's my one card that covers both challenges!

I used distressed ink to color some background, then used distress ink to stamp up some plants.  I colored the fish with copic markers.  I added a bit of glossy accents to make a few bubbles.

I used my wave stencil to add a bit of background to the white card, stamped a few little fishes and pop up the white card stock on foam tape.

Stamped the sentiment and that was it!  A simple card!

Supplies:
  • Card stock:  Bazzill Marshmallow, Simon Says Stamps Aubrey Blue
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Birthday Fishes stamps and dies

  • Distressed Ink:  Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Fire Brick Red

Christmas in August

Wow, it is hot again today!  Because of the heat, I didn't want to do my normal Sunday hilly ride. Instead, I just did a quick 55 minute loop.  Nice workout for a hot day.  The cold shower felt GREAT!

I wanted to participate in the CAS(E) this Sketch #136 this week.  I really like the sketch, as there are so many possibilities with this one.

I know it may seem a little early for Christmas, but I'm starting to get a little nervous, that I won't be ready with all of the cards.  So here is my first for the season.

I purchased this die awhile back and have been waiting for just the right moment to use it and here we go.

Actually a very simple card.  I stamped the sentiment and die cut the Christmas lights.  I colored the lights with Copic markers, adhered them with some glue and done!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow, Peppermint
  • Versacolor Ink:  Satin Red
  • My Favorite Things:  Cheerful/Xmas Greeting
  • Penny Black:  Sparkle String Die

Tag You're It Challenge #28

Wow, what an amazing day.  We were down in Pacific Grove and Carmel and it was an absolutely beautiful day.  Topped off with a nice lunch with friends.  Upon coming home I headed off to the tennis court for some singles practice.  Then home for hot pizza coming out of the oven! Yum!

Now time for another challenge at Tag You're It!  Here's the inspiration tag from Jen.  What a fun tag---so many ideas.  In fact, I made a few tags with this inspiration and settled on the one below.

Can't wait to see what you come up with...

This was a super fun tag to make. I was inspired by Jen's balloons and bear.  I don't have any bear stamps, so I used my hippo stamp from Lawn Fawn. I also masked and stamped a few balloons to make the balloon bouquet---since I don't have any balloon die cuts or balloon bouquet stamps!

I colored the images with Copic Markers and made the sentiment banner to finish it off.

Can't wait to see your creations!  Hope you decide to play along.

Supplies:
  • Lawn Fawn Stamps:  Hippo Birdie to You
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Lawn Fawn Paper Pack
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Cloud Bank Die
  • Copic Markers

The Eyes Have It

Another busy day on the tennis court!  Thank you husband for warming me up before my match--you always give me great confidence going into the match. It was a long match with lots of good hitting on both sides.  In the end, I was beat, but made a new friend and enjoyed myself!

As soon as the most recent Less is More Challenge was announced, I knew my monster stamps would be a perfect match for the one layer challenge.

This is the first card I made as was so excited about the challenge, I was hoping to make a few more so I had some to choose from, but other things came up and I haven't had a chance to do a few more. Here's my take on the challenge.

I started off my stamping the wavy line.  I then stamped the hearts and the monster and began coloring with copic marks. Really a very simple card to make and I think it turned out quite nice.  What do you think?

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Your Next Stamps:  Silly Monsters
  • Lawn Fawn Stamps:  Monsters (for the sentiment)
  • Copic Markers

Party Penguin Challenge

I'm getting this posted before we head off to Napa for the day.  I'm looking forward to a little lunch in Yountville!

We are in the middle of another challenge at Tag You're It Challenge #27.  Here's the cute inspiration tag from Anja Curvers!  You can't help but smile when you see this tag/card!

Here's my take on the challenge...can't wait to see what you come up with!

I was inspired by Anja's background colors.  I just love the orange and yellow combination--very bright and cheerful!
I decided to stay in the party vibe of the inspiration card as well and pulled out my drinking penguin!  So cute!

I colored the tag with distressed ink, used a bit of molding paste for the outline of the circles --- it kinda faded into the background, but you can still see them!

I used copic markers to color my partying penguin and adhered him with a little foam adhesive.

Wise Friend Challenge

It a bit of a lazy Saturday...not too much on the agenda, just a little housecleaning/yard work, some cupcake decorating and dinner at Grace's house.  This gives me a little time to get this post out.

I'm inspired by the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts Challenge. Here's the inspiration.  This will be the first time I'm putting a tag on a card, I've seen these challenges before and have resisted them, but time to make a change ;0

I started off my stamping the tree onto the tag, masked it and used distress ink for the background. I then colored the tree branch and the owl with copic markers.  I popped the owl with some foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on vellum and embossed it so it would stand out against the wood grain background.

Finished the card off with some Lawn Fawn twine on the top (curled it a bit), and adhered everything to the grey cardstock.

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Fog, Marshmallow
  • Vellum
  • Doddlebug Patterned Paper
  • Paper Smooches Stamps and Dies
  • Distressed Ink:  Salty Ocean
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder

Scary Challenge

Wow, another hot day today.  I beat the heat by playing some doubles tennis this morning super early. We met up for a bit of coffee before tennis---and later realized that Irish Iced Coffee is probably better after tennis!  Hard to top that for a nice social tennis match with the girls. After tennis, I had lunch with a friend, then a focused on some work--down to the home stretch on closing this deal!

I finished this card yesterday, but was able to take the photo this afternoon.  The inspiration came from two different challenges:

CASE This Sketch #133 for the design...

YNS Color Challenge 19

And the colors from Your Next Stamp Color Challenge #19.  The YNS Color Challenge requires you to use at least 3 of the 5 colors, so I focused on the Waxed Lips (red),  Grapefruit  (yellow) and Taffy (greyish).

I just love this guy from the Silly Monsters set from Your Next Stamp.  I colored him with my copic markers cut him out along with some fun foam and adhered him to the taffy card stock.  I stamped some different size hearts around the monster, the inspiration from the CASE sketch and stamped the sentiment underneath!

The taffy card stock gives this a bit of a masculine feel, which I like as it seems I'm always in need of a few cards for the guys!  Let me know what you think!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock:  Taffy, Waxed Lips, Marshmallow
  • Your Next Stamp Set:  Silly Monsters
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Avery Elle Pigment Ink:  Mimosa
  • Versafine Ink:  Satin Red
