Wishing - One Layer Challenge

What a beautiful day today.  My husband and I hit the tennis court this morning and had a fun time. His fractured finger is a still casuing him a bit of pain, but you won't know it the way he was cracking that ball! And we played next to our friends, Yan, Ione, Hatsumi and Lynda.  It is always nice to be out there with everyone!

"Less is More"Another Less is More Challenge is going on.  This time it is a one-layer card, which frankly is my favorite technique.  I find this technique to be challengeing, so it is always fun to play along.  The theme for this time is "Wishing".  It is not required to have the word on the card, but to convey the feeling in the design.

Here's my take on the challenge...

This is a simple card to make.  I stamped the items with memento ink and colored the images with Copic markers.

The final touch was to add glossy accents to the glasses of the two birds.

Truly a clean and simple card!!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock - Marshmallow
  • Lawn Fawn Stamps:  Feathered Friends, Hello Sunshine, Science of Love
  • Copic Markers
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Halloween Monster

What a perfect day for a bike ride.  I'm back to my Sunday ride---though I'm not doing my hill ride quite yet!  I'm on the mend from my cough so it felt good to go for a ride.  Especially since my busy day yesterday.  Starting with the Lion King show, then the Stanford Football Game and ending with a fun Thai dinner!  Had to work off the sitting and eating!

I'm excited enter a card into the Your Next Stamp Challenge #22.  This time, I'm going with the sketch challenge...and using my favorite stamp set---Silly Monsters, which is just perfect for a Halloween theme!

Here is my take on the sketch....

Whenever I use this stamp set, I always like to have dots around since most of the monsters have dots on them---no exception for my Halloween themed card.

I colored the monster with Copic markers, after heat embossing the monster.  I also heat embossed candies on the black strip on the very top---as well as my senitment which I'm using in place of the bow.

I die cut the circles and used the inlayed technique--which I like to use as it doesn't add bulk to the card, but gives a nice finished look.

A very fun card to make, and I like how it turned out!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock:  Marshmallow, Lime Crush, Black, Candy Corn, Gummy Bear
  • Your Next Stamp:  Silly Monsters
  • Lawn Fawn:  Senitment
  • Versamark Onyx Black Ink
  • Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder

Tag You're It - Challenge #30

Still getting over my cough...finally it is coming to an end.  Luckily it is time for another Tag You're It Challenge, so that keeps me focused on some fun stuff!

This is a fun inspiration tag from Nancy Penir.  This is such a great tag!!!  I love how she used the cupcake as the actual tag.  I love this idea, and in fact made a few Christmas Tag's with this idea, but then I wanted to actually use my cupcake stamps for this challenge.

Here's what I came up with:

I started with some very light yellow card stock and stamped some tone-on-tone confetti (kinda hard to see in this photo).  I then stamped, colored and cut out my cupcake.

Added my sentiment below and in the end added a few sequins to bring a little more color to the tag.  Also, added some Wink of Stella to the frosting for some shimmer.

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Yellow
  • Lawn Fawn Patterned Paper
  • My Next Stamp:  Confetti Background
  • Stampendous Stamps
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Birthday Sentiments
  • Avery Elle Pigment Ink:  Mimosa
  • Distressed Ink:  Spiced Maralalade
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Copic Markers

Tag You're It - Challenge Reminder

A beautiful day!  A little tennis and workout in the gym this morning.  Then some lunch in the backyard.  A bunch of work in the afternoon (oh no!)...but my day ended on a happy note with a wonderful dinner cooked by my husband!  Thank you husband!!

If you haven't had a change to create a tag for the current Tag You're It Challenge #28, don't worry, there's still time!

Jen's inspiration is a fun one, so I decided to make another tag.

Here's my second take on the challenge...

For this tag, I was inspired by having one main image holding a balloon.  I decided to use my favorite monster stamp from My Next Stamp and colored him with my copic markers.

I then decided to die cut some banners across the top and ended the tag with my sentiment banner.  So similar to Jen, a bit of coloring, some die cutting and a banner!

Head on over to Tag You're It, we are looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Bye Sandy

A bit of sad news today...my friend Crysti's dog has been ill and she had to put her to sleep.  What a difficult time when she has been a loyal friend for over 13 years!  We lost our dog many years ago and it is a difficult process and we still think of Camden every day.

I'm hopeful that this card will give Crysti some comfort!

This is a very simple card with some quick stamping of paws in a few different sizes.

I stamped the sentiment with pigment ink and used clear embossing powder to make it pop.

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock:  Rock Candy, Sour Lemon, Banana Split
  • Vellum
  • Your Next Stamp
  • Lawn Fawn Scripty Sayings
  • Avery Elle Pigment Ink:  Fog, Mimosa

Lots of Fishes

Since it is so hot outside, lots of indoor activities on the schedule today!  As you know, I'm mostly an outdoor person, but being in the studio is making me happy today.  Allowing me my second post for the day---this is a first!

I was inspired by two challenges:  CASology #159 and CAS(E) this Sketch #136.  This is my second post for CAS(E) since I really like this sketch---so many possibilities.

Here's my one card that covers both challenges!

I used distressed ink to color some background, then used distress ink to stamp up some plants.  I colored the fish with copic markers.  I added a bit of glossy accents to make a few bubbles.

I used my wave stencil to add a bit of background to the white card, stamped a few little fishes and pop up the white card stock on foam tape.

Stamped the sentiment and that was it!  A simple card!

Supplies:
  • Card stock:  Bazzill Marshmallow, Simon Says Stamps Aubrey Blue
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Birthday Fishes stamps and dies

  • Distressed Ink:  Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Fire Brick Red

Christmas in August

Wow, it is hot again today!  Because of the heat, I didn't want to do my normal Sunday hilly ride. Instead, I just did a quick 55 minute loop.  Nice workout for a hot day.  The cold shower felt GREAT!

I wanted to participate in the CAS(E) this Sketch #136 this week.  I really like the sketch, as there are so many possibilities with this one.

I know it may seem a little early for Christmas, but I'm starting to get a little nervous, that I won't be ready with all of the cards.  So here is my first for the season.

I purchased this die awhile back and have been waiting for just the right moment to use it and here we go.

Actually a very simple card.  I stamped the sentiment and die cut the Christmas lights.  I colored the lights with Copic markers, adhered them with some glue and done!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow, Peppermint
  • Versacolor Ink:  Satin Red
  • My Favorite Things:  Cheerful/Xmas Greeting
  • Penny Black:  Sparkle String Die
