Trick or Treat Tags

Wow, what a beautiful day!  We are lucky to still be enjoying a bit of summer on the eve of November.  Had a busy morning at the tennis club a bit of hitting with Grace then some intense training with the husband!  Fun, Fun!

If you haven't yet made a tag for the most current challenge at Tag You're It, there's still time!  Here's the inspiration tag from Kara Lynn.  I was inspired by the theme of Halloween...and while I'm not big on Halloween, other than carving pumpkins, I just love the Halloween themed stamp sets---they are so cute!

I had so much fun with this challenge, that I ended up making several.  Let me know what you think!

For this first tag, I started off with some black card stock, then stamped a few of the critters from Lawn Fawn.  I colored them with copic markers.  I heat embossed the "Trick or Treat" sentiment on the moon and highlighted the edges with some distressed ink.  I then decided to add a few white heat embossed stars to finish up the tag!

A few days after the first tag, I received a new stamp set from Simon Says Stamps and wanted to make a few more tags for some cookie bags for some friends.  Here's a few quick and easy Halloween tags!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow, Black, Easter Grass, Grapefruit Bliss, Candy Corn
  • Distressed Ink
  • Lawn Fawn:  Spooktacular Set
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Not So Spooky
  • Lawn Fawn:  Tag Die
  • My Favorite Things:  Tag Dies

Merry - FMS Challenge #209

I've been wanting to submit a card for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #209 this entire week, but I was busy getting other cards done for some family members and it has been quite a busy week with other commitments.

I ended up redoing this card several times, as at first I was intent on making it a shaker card, as it really calls out for that type of card.  But in the end, I was not happy with the outcome.  So I scrapped that card, and ending up making this one.  What do you think?

This is a clean and simple card.  I used my embossing folder for the main panel and popped it on foam tape.  I die cut the sentiment from a red paper that matches the Lawn Fawn paper underneath.

A silver star on top completes the card!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow and Wax Lips
  • Lawn Fawn Patterned Paper
  • WPlus9:  Merry Sentiment
  • My Favorite Things: Tree Die Cut

Not So Spooky

Today was a housecleaning day, since I had a tennis match early yesterday morning.  Once that was done, a bit of football watching with the husband---and letting my body rest a bit from an active week last week and another active week coming up.

I never was much of a Halloween person, but am having so much fun making Halloween cards that I decided to play along with the Addicted to CAS Spooky Theme.

Here's my take on the challenge....let me know what you think!

This card was super fun to make because I love these little monsters.  I simply stamped them and masked them off so it looks like one is behind the other. I then colored them with copic markers and stamped the sentiment.  I popped up the card on some foam tape as a final touch!

A nice "clean and simple" card!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Marshmallow Card Stock
  • Your Next Stamp:  Silly Monsters
  • Patterned Paper
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Copic Markers

Boo!

I have another post for today.  I had to finish this up today since tomorrow is a busy day!

I'm submitting this Halloween Card to Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge.  Let me know what you think of this one...

I have been wanting to use these fun little guys from the Space Cadet's stamp set.  I stamped them on white card stock and used some masking to get them all on the card.  I colored them with copic markers.

While difficult to see in this photo, I cut the black card stock and added some halloween candies for a tone-on-tone look, but difficult to photograph.

I used the inlaid die technique for the BOO and made a little banner for the Happy Halloween!  A fun card to make!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Black, Marshmallow, Easter Grass
  • Paper Smooches Stamps:  Space Cadet
  • Simon Says Stamps:  Not So Spooky
  • Lawn Fawn Die:  Quinn's ABC's

CASE Challenge #145

Wow, just got back from tennis practice with my husband...it was hard, but fun.  He was hitting so hard...but we had a ton of great rally's!  I should be prepared for my match tomorrow!  Thanks husband for your coaching!

There is a challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch that is just up my alley! I've been on a kick lately with having my focal image on top of sentiments.

Here's my take on the sketch...what do you think?

For this card, I simply stamped the image and heat embossed it---then colored it with copic markers.  I then stamped the words on white card stock and added a few purple splatters (my first time for splatters).

I then added foam tape to the image and popped it on the card.

Really quite simple :)

  • Your Next Stamp:  Silly Monsters
  • Lawn Fawn Stamp:  Spooktacular
  • Versamark Onyx Black Ink

Fall Die Cuts

Today is a busy day...I'm meeting my friend Kay for some singles practice early this morning, then off to meet Terry for a lunch meeting.  After lunch, I will warm up Miharu for her tennis team---today is challenge day for her team and she wants to be in the line up!  Good luck Miharu!

I purchased a new die from Paper Smooches recently and have been wanting to use it!!  My friend Grace needs a sympathy card and I thought the die would work well with this type of card, so here is my card.

For this card, I die cut the leaves on the white card stock, cut down to 4.25 x 5.5 inches.  I then used distress ink to color the background piece.  I used yellow, green and red to bring in the colors of fall.  Then simply pieced together the card.  As a final touch, I used gold embossing powder on my sentiment.
Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock:  Marshmallow
  • Distressed Ink:  Scattered Straw, Forest Moss, Fired Brick
  • Paper Smooches Die:  Loopy Leaf
  • Paper Smooches Stamps:  Salutations

Happy Birthday Brandon

Today is catch up day!  Yesterday was my wedding anniversary and my wonderful hubby, took me out to a yummy dinner...that was after our fun visit to the local Octoberfest Celebration.  I'm thrilled the American's celebrate this festivity late and it coincided with our anniversary!  What a fun day! Thank you husband.

Last Wednesday was my son's birthday and I wanted to make a card with a dog, since we both love dogs! His favorite color is blue so I tried to incorporate that as well.  Here's my card....

I've been loving the technique of stamping words behind the main image and decided to do so again here!

I made the patterned paper with clear embossing powder, colored the main image.  I cut the balloon with a die and stamped some stars on it to give it a bit of interest.

After coloring the dog, I popped it up on foam tape to give it and the balloon some dimension.

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Cardstock:  Marshmallow, Whirlypop, Candy Corn, Candy Buttons
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Versamark Onyx Black
  • Paper Smooches Stamps:  Chubby Chum, Sentiment Sampler

Tag You're It Challenge #32 Reminder

Busy day today, so I have to get this post up early.  I have two morning tennis practices--one doubles with the ladies and a singles practice with the husband.  I'm looking forward to a bit of warm up before my always tough practice with the husband!  He keeps me on my toes!

I created another tag for the current Tag You're It Challenge #32.  I enjoyed the inspiration tag from Kelly, that I just had to make another.  This one is similar to my last tag, but I used the polar bear stamps instead.  Still a nice winter tag!

Thanks Kelly for the inspiration!!  Hope you all join in so we can see what you come up with.

I used the same technique as the last tag...started by shading the tag with distressed inks.  Then added a few snowflakes which I heat embossed!

I then cut out the polar bear and sign and colored them in with copic markers. A final touch of adding a bit of enamel accents to the eyes to make them pop and a little form tap to give the polar bear a bit of dimension.

  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow
  • Distressed Ink: Broken China, Chipped Sapphire
  • My Favorite Things Stamps and Dies:  Cool Days
  • Copic Markers

Merry October

I think I'm fully recovered from my jet lag...but, I've decided not to do my normal Sunday ride today, since I'll be meeting my friend Maria tomorrow for lunch and will ride there!  I always like riding to lunch as it makes me feel happy to meet up with friends and to get my exercise in!

Today will be hanging with the hubby and keeping him company while he watches his football! Hanging with the hubby is better than any bike ride :)

I'm slowly moving towards my Christmas cards...I certainly need to move it along faster, but here's another card that I put together.  For this card, I focused on Paper Smooches Fresh Snow Stamps---I recently received it, but haven't used it and wanted to use the snowflakes as my focal point.

I stamped the snowflakes on vellum and heat embossed them with silver embossing powder. I added a bit of silver paper to the edges of my diagonal cut.  I then cut the sentiment from the same silver paper and added the red patterned paper (though a bit difficult to see the pattern in the photo).

I like the simple elegance of the card!

  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow
  • Silver Card Stock
  • Lawn Fawn Patterned Paper: Snow Days
  • Vellum

Tag You're It Challenge #32

Well, I'm still struggling a bit with the jet lag...just can't seem to get up in the morning.  Also, I was very sluggish in my tennis match yesterday---but, hopefully next week the jet lag will be a distant memory!

Today my friend Hatsumi and I did a bit of hiking in the open space today!  Nice day, clear sky's which resulted in some beautiful views of the valley.

It is time for another challenge at Tag You're It.  This inspiration is from Kelly Szafron.  I love the Christmas inspiration and it is never too early to start planning for the holidays!  Christmas tags are so fun to make and this is the perfect inspiration for the first Christmas tag for this year!!

In creating my tag, I decided to focus on the Santa from the inspiration tag. Here's what I came up with.  I hope you decide to join the challenge, we would love to see what you come up with.

I started by using distressed ink for the background.  I then used my copics to color Santa and the presents.  Once cut and colored, I simply adhered the images to the tag and stamped the sentiment.

As a final touch I added a bit of xxx for the snowflakes!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Marshmallow
  • Distressed Ink: Broken China, Chipped Sapphire
  • My Favorite Things Stamps and Dies:  Jingle All The Way
  • Copic Markers

Tag You're It - Challenge #31 Reminder

If you haven't already created a tag for the most current Challenge at Tag You're It, you'll need to do so, it really is fun!

For this challenge, Jeanna Jachna created this lovely fall tag.  It really is a nice inspiration for this time of the year.  I do love these colors---burnt orange, gold and teal.  A great combination!

Here's what I came up with...can't wait to see your entries...

This was a nice simple tag.  I stuck with the colors that Jeanna used for her tag.  I worked in the teal with my sentiment on the bottom.  I used a bit of Distressed Ink on it to give it a bit more dimension.

  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Candy Corn
  • Simon Says Stamps Card Stock: Aubrey Blue
  • Gold Foil Paper
  • Distressed Ink:  Peacock Blue
  • Lawn Fawn Die: Hello
  • Simon Says Stamps Die:  Meadow Rue
  • Versafine Onyx Black Ink
