Holy Cow

What a crisp and cool day!  I lost my tennis match today, but learned a lot in the process and actually enjoyed the match!  What a great challenge!

I am, once again, inspired by the Addicted to CAS Challenge with the code word "Dimension".  It is just up my alley and I have enjoyed making a few cards that fit the bill.  I entered one on my last post and am going to enter another card.  I'm stepping away from Christmas for a moment with this one.

Here's my take on the challenge.  Let me know what you think.

I stamped the cow on the card and heat embossed it.  I like to heat embossed when coloring an image especially ones with very thin lines, as it helps to keep the color from bleeding out side the lines.  I then colored the image with Copic Markers. I then cut my sentiments with my block letter dies.  To finish up the card I popped everything up with foam tape and adhered it to the card stock.

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • My Favorite Things Stamps:  Barnyard Buddies
  • Versafine Onyx Black Ink
  • Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder
  • Bazzill Lime Crush Card Stock
  • Lawn Fawn Dies:  Finley's ABC's

Merry "CAS" Christmas

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We had a nice time...lots of great food and fun company! Today is freezing, but the sun is shining.  My husband and I made it to the courts for some tennis practice.  Great practice with lots of hard hitting and, now, I am set for my match on Sunday! Thanks husband for the workout!

I finished a card today for the Addicted to CAS Challenge. I'm also throwing my hat in for the design team. Wish me luck!

This is a great challenge...CAS and dimension. Love this idea, to add a bit of dimension while still maintaining the idea of a clean and simple card.

Here's my take on the challenge. Let me know what you think!

I started off by stamping the Santa onto my card stock and heat embossed him.  I love to heat emboss my images as it makes the image pop and helps keep the color from bleeding outside the image. I then colored him with copic markers.  I then stamped my sentiment on a separate piece of card stock and die cut the letters and adhered it to my Santa panel with some foam tape.

I used my trees die to trim down the white panel and added a bit of foam tape to the panel.  I then added a few snow flakes to the blue panel (which I quickly created with distressed ink) with some molding paste---just for some added dimension.

And there you have it!

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • My Favorite Things Stamps:  Jingle All The Way
  • Lawn Fawn Stamps:  Owen's ABC's
  • Lawn Fawn Dies:  Forest Border Die
  • Simon Says Stamps Stencil:  Falling Snow
  • Copic Markers
  • Versafine Ink:  Satin Red, Onyx Black

You're Special

Wow...it is freezing outside.  My tennis match for this afternoon was just cancelled, so my husband has offered to go hit with me for awhile---yeah!  However, before I go, I wanted to sneak in this post.

I'm participating in a challenge over at CAS(E) this sketch, #150.  I just love these clean and simple challenges.  I've decided to step away from Christmas for a moment and came up with a bright and happy card, using some of my favorite colors.

Here's my take on the sketch...let me know what you think!

I started by cutting down some cardstock, then stamping my little creatures.  For the one in the middle, I drew a few dots to make him a bit...special!  I then colored all of them with Copic markers.  Stamped the sentiment and and stamped a few little circles below the sentiment for a little extra color.

As a final touch I added Wink of Stella to the dots on the green creature (though you can't see it well in the photograph!)

This can be a simple one layer card, or you can attach it to some colored cardstock---which I did here.

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Cardstock
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Juicy Pear
  • Alley Way Stamps:  Meltdown
  • Paper Smooches:  Sentiments
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Cool Days

Nice cool day for a brisk hike with my friend Hatsumi!  I then had to do a bit of shopping for the upcoming Thanksgiving meal that we are hosting.  Then a quick bite for lunch.  I have a few minutes to post my newest card before a meeting with Martina.  After that, a tennis match with Margo!

I love color challenges and MFT Color Challenge is particularily fun---they always have great combinations.

And here is my card...

I just love this polar bear!

I started by stamping the polar bear, then masking him before I stamped the iceberg.  I then stamped the sign on a separate piece of paper.

Once everything was stamped and heat embossed, I colored the images with Copic markers.

I stamped my snowflakes and used white embossing powder to make them pop on the grey cardstock (this the the darkest grey paper I had in my collection).

As a finishing touch, I popped the white panel on foam tape and done!

Supplies:
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Rock Candy
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • My Favorite Things:  Cool Days
  • Hero Arts Embossing Powder:  White and Clear
  • Copic Markers

Happy Birthday Gracie!

A beautiful day today.  Started off with a little tennis, while I made it to the playoffs, I lost the match! Oh well, least I made it this far!  Thanks husband for your coaching and support!

YNScolor-27

I always love particating in the Your Next Stamp Color Challenge, and this one is no exception. Here are the colors for the current challenge #27.

I needed a card for my long time friend Grace who has a birthday coming up. She loves dogs, so this one is perfect for her!  I focused on 3 colors:  green, light brown and white.

Let me know what you think...

This is a clean and simple design.  I started by stamping the image on white card stock, heat embossing the image, then coloring with Copic makers.

I stamped the sentiment and used my wavey border to cut the cardstock.  I used the paw print stamps to stamp on the green panel.  I heat embossed the paw's with clear embossing powder to get a nice tone-on-tone look.

I popped up the while panel with some foam tape and that finished up the card!

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • Bazzill Card Stock:  Lime Crush
  • Your Next Stamp:  I Ruff You
  • Lawn Fawn:  Chit Chat
  • Copic Markers
  • Versafine Onyx Black Ink

Merry Santa

I'm heading off for a few days and wanted to get this post out before I head out.

I'm excited to be entering this card into my favorite type of challenge...clean and simple, one layer card.  This challenge is being held over at Less Is More.

"Less is More"I've had this card idea in my head for awhile and am excited to try it out...though it is a bit of a risk for this challenge.  While it looks like there is a lot going on, I think it would still qualify as a clean and simple card, due to the limited colors and clean lines....however, we shall see :)

For this card, I simply stamped the Santa at the bottom and heat embossed him.  I then stamped the various sentiments around him.  While lots of words, still a white space (clean and simple, yes?)

Anywho, after the stamping I colored the Santa image with copics.  Actually, quite a quick card!

Here's a bit of a close-up!

Birthday Challenge

It is pouring rain here today so all outdoor activities are at a standstill, which for me is challenging! The good news is we need the rain and the forecast for tomorrow seems to be better! And this gives me a bit more creative time.

I've decided to enter into the Seize the Birthday Challenge! I have several friends with birthdays coming up so this is perfect timing.

Here's what I came up with...

This is a bit of a different style for me. I usually like to stamp images and color them or paper piece them.

For this card, everything is stamped on directly--no coloring!

I heat embossed the image and stamped these pretty flowers around it. I even decorated the envelop with the same colors and flowers (but forgot to take the picture before giving it to the postal carrier)!

A super fun, and fast, card to make!

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • Stamps:  Mama Elephant, Simon Says Stamps
  • Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder
  • Versacolor Pigment Ink

Tag Your It Challenge #34

Today we have a new challenge over at Tag You're It.

I'm excited to be able to provide the inspiration for this challenge.  As I was creating this tag, I was thinking of the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, which for me translates into family.  At the same time, I not quite ready to give up the bright colors of summer.  Thus, I just combined the two!!

Because this is a busy time of year, I opted for a clean and simple tag.  I simply stamped the imaged and colored them with copic markers.  A quick and easy way to create a festive tag!
I can't wait to see what you come up with, head on over and add your link...

Thanks for participating!

Lawn Fawn Challenge - Love and Hope

Today is my rest day since I've had a very busy week with tennis---though I do have another match this evening, but it's doubles, so not much rest needed.

Anywho, since I have a bit of time today, I thought I would enter into this Lawnscaping Challenge No.117.

Here's my take on the challenge...what do you think?

I really like this cute set from Lawn Fawn.  So fun...and frankly allows for us to make cards quickly, which is especially needed during this busy time of the year!

I simply cut the card stock with the Stitched Rectangle and stamped the images.  I die cut the "love" sentiment colored it with copic markers and highlighted it with Distressed Ink.  I cut the love into the card stock to inlay the die which gives the card a nice finished look!

As a final touch, I added glossy accents to the glasses!

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • Lawn Fawn Dies:  Stitched Rectangle, Scripty Love
  • Lawn Fawn Stamps:  Science of Love, Feathered Friends
  • Copic Markers
  • Distressed Ink
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Glossy Accents
  • Copic Markers

Hearts - CASology Challenge #170

It is pouring rain this morning...haven't heard that sound in a long time!! Thus, my tennis practice is cancelled.  Now I have a bit of time to enter into another challenge.

This weeks' challenge at CASology is Hearts---combine that with Clean and Simple and I'm there!

I focused on a classic clean and simple...a single image along with a sentiment.

Here's my take on the challenge...

I started off by die cutting my card stock using Lawn Fawn rectangles.  Since this is such a simple design, I wanted to add a little something to highlight the simple image and sentiment, so I used a smaller stitched rectangle inside the larger die cut and just inlaid the smaller rectangle.  This provides some extra focus on the sentiment but still maintaining the clean and simple theme.

Lastly, I added just a touch of Wink of Stella to the hearts to give it a bit of shimmer!

A clean and simple card, indeed!

Supplies:
  • Neenah Solar White Card Stock
  • Lawn Fawn Dies:  Stitched Rectangles
  • Paper Smooches Stamps:  Lots of Love
  • The Alley Way Stamps:  Sentiment
  • Copic Markers
  • Clear Wink of Stella

Pure Joy - MFT Color Challenge #32

Happy Daylight Savings time...love the extra hour of sleep!  Just in time to rest up after a night of Halloween activities and in time for my tennis match this afternoon...wish me luck!

I stumbled across the My Favorite Things Color Challenge #32.  This is my favorite type of challenge as I'm enjoying coloring with Copic Markers...and love to watercolor as well.  This is the first time I'm participating in this challenge, and thought I would use a new MFT Stamp (well, it is new to me!)

The color requirements are these...

This card was super fun to make.  I started by cutting this white card stock with my stitched rectangle die.  I heat embossed the image, then colored it with the Copic colors as required by the challenge.

I stamped the sentiment and applied embossing paste (another favorite technique) snowflakes!
