Less is More - Stripes and Spots OLC

We have a new challenge starting over at Less is More!  Yeah, this challenge is one of my favorite...a One Layer Card!

Don't you hate it when you don't take just a few minutes to read the instructions!  I do...yet, I find myself doing in frequently :)  Anywho...as you can see our challenge for this week is Stripes and Spots, one-layer card.  I read it as stripes or spots, so I finished my first card and then realized I only had spots no stripes....so then I made another with both spots and stripes, but forgot it was a one-layer card.  Augh!  Here's my third try....

This was a easy card to make.  I started by die cutting various size circles to use for a mask.  I then simple inked them up with distress ink on my favorite blending paper.  Once my circle was down, I used a more heavy hand to add the stripes via stencil.  Once all of my spots and stripes were down, I added my sentiment.

Here's a close up of the card.  You can see the stripes a bit better here!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  1. Bold, bright and vibrant to the max Susan! Those fab circles have such an impact and adding the stripes to them was a stroke of genius. Ha! I feel the pain of having 3 tries on a one layer week! Hope the rest of your week is great. xx

  4. Your card is wonderfully vibrant, Susan! I did exactly the same as you and made a card without stripes to begin with - doh!! Love the way you added the stripes to the circles and the crisp sentiment. Have a great weekend x

  5. Fantatastic design, Susan! Exactly same thing happened to me with one of the ideas I had for this challenge, I was happily making the card (coloring images on a small piece on card) when I realized I would have pretty hard time making that work for OLC. ;) Anyway, am loving this, those happy colors just pop from the card and using the stencil was a great idea. This card has so much dimension and detail for a one layer, amazing work! You even found a perfect sentiment for the challenge, even that has spots! :)

  6. Third time's a charm, Susan. You have a lot of patience. On your first attempt and realizing there was no stripes, I would've just drew in the stripes. 😜 Love this fun, colourful card.

  7. A lovely bright card Susan. Your comments made me laugh about it being your 3rd attempt. I usually forget it's a one layer card too!

  8. Oh no! What a nightmare week! I did exactly the same thing a few months ago, though I don't suppose that's any consolation! It's turned out totally fab though and looks awesome with the warm colours and the subtle lines in the circles. Have a super week! x

  9. Love your bright and joyful card Susan ! I understand your frustration ! What occurs to me was the contrary : I had hard time to make a one layer time and once finished to enter it in the challenge I just realised it was not an OLC week ! Have a great week !
